Nubia Red Magic Mars versus the competition

Gaming smartphones are becoming a trend with more and more companies launching such smartphones. With the availability of the Nubia Red Magix Mars, I think it is a good idea to compare the game-centric smartphones that are currently available on the market so you know where to spend your money. We will be looking at specs, design and of course, price. We will be comparing the Nubia Red Magic Mars with Razer Phone 2, the ASUS ROG Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark, Huawei Honor Play and the Huawei Mate 20x. And just for fun, I will be throwing the first Nubia Red Magic in there. I won’t be focusing on the cameras or other non-gaming related features for this comparison.

Man, those are a lot of gaming smartphones, and most of them are released this year. Nubia Red Magic Mars stands out by being the cheapest with the Snapdragon 845 CPU. Even the 8GB/128GB version is cheaper than the base Xiaomi Black Shark. Furthermore, the RGB strip on the back will make it visually appealing and will certainly attract a few eyes when placed on the table. Even the older version, with Snapdragon 835 is still a good buy. Yes, it is an older CPU, but it is still potent and can run any game smoothly. Huawei’s Honor Play version is a bit cheaper, but its design is generic, like a “normal” smartphone. The same story is true for Mate 20X, which has a generic design for 2018.
Xiaomi managed to make a good name and the Black Shark Helo is certainly something to look into. It is the cheapest with an AMOLED display and the specs are very good. Not to mention that it comes with a controller adapter for a better gaming experience. The ASUS ROG phone is expensive, the most expensive device in this list. But it does come with a good design, top-of-the-line specs and there are many accessories that you can buy for it, including one that offers an additional screen.

Nubia Red magic Mars is an excellent phone considering the price and hopefully, we will make a full-blown review of it soon. If you have less money, the SD835 version released in the first half of 2018 is the way to go. If you want the best of the best while still having money for coffee, Xiaomi’s version is the one you should buy. Sadly, with its generic design and above than average price tag, Huawei’s offerings are harder to recommend, even though the Mate 20X comes with the fastest CPU out there.
