No Android Pie for Nubia Z17

Well, this is a shame. Nubia announced that it’s last year flagship, the Nubia Z17, won’t be receiving any more updates. We are talking about a high-end device here that the company released a little over a year. It got launched with Android 7 and did receive an update to Android 8.1, however, this is where the update train stops. It is sad because the device had really good specs and a very affordable price. Not to mention that the design, even though not too eccentric, was good.

For those that don’t know, the Nubia Z17 update to Android Pie was initially confirmed, however, on the official forum, it was just announced that development was canceled. (source). Talking about disappointing your customers. Other companies offer updates for devices way older than the Nubia Z17 and here I must mention OnePlus who will be updating even the OnePlus 3 to Android Pie, or Xiaomi that gives new versions of MIUI to older and a lot cheaper devices regularly.

Spec wise, the Nubia Z17 comes with a Snapdragon 835 CPU, 6GB or GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. It has a 5.5″ FullHD screen, dual cameras on the back with 24MP and 12MP respectively as well as a 16MP front-facing camera. You can still get it at most retails for less than 400$ if you are still interested, but, considering Nubia’s update record it is hard to recommend.
