Doogee Y8 is a low-end device with a waterdrop notch and a cheap pricetag

Doogee has released a new device aimed at the low-end market. This new smartphone is very cheap but still tried to look elegant and pack decent components, even though it costs quite well under $100. Usually, this kind of money won’t bring you much, but the Doogee Y8 is worth looking into if you are looking for a backup phone or something that you can replace in 6-8 months. And despite the price, it has Android 9 out of the box, which is more than I can say of many Chinese smartphones, even far more expensive ones.

Looking over the specs, we will see that the Doogee Y8 comes with a quad-core Mediatek MTK6739 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and 3GB of RAM. Internal storage is small by 2019 standards, at just 16GB, but the device does support microSD cards. The screen has an LCD panel with a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. Screen size is a decent 6.1″, but the resolution is only HD+ (1280×600). The camera setup is also pretty modest, featuring a dual 8MP+5MP on the back and a 5MP selfie camera on the front.

Doogee Y8 comes with a 3400mAh battery, a fingerprint sensor on the back, dual 4G connectivity and Android Pie preinstalled. It is available in three colors (black, green and purple gradient) for just $73.15 at Doogee’s official Aliexpress store. It won’t break any records for speed and performance, but the device is cheap enough to be bought as a back-up phone, or for your older parents.
