Xiaomi will soon release a new device aimed at the ultra cheap market. According to revu.com.ph the device is scheduled to be released in the Philippines in the next few weeks. But don’t expect any high-end specs. The Xiaomi Redmi Go will be a cheap device with low specs and powered by Android Go, the slimmed down version of Android.
If we look at the specs, we can see that the device is not for everyone. We get a Snapdragon 425CPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The good part is that you do get a microSD card slot so you can expand that storage for up to 128GB. The screen is also small by 2019 standards, measuring just 5″ and having a HD resolution (1280×720). On the back you get an 8MP camera and on the front of the device there is a 5MP camera. Xiaomi Redmi Go is running Android 8.1 Go Edition.
Official pricing is not yet revealed, however considering the specs it will be less than $100 unlocked. Yes, it is not a powerful device, but there is a market for ultra-cheap smartphones and the Xiaomi Redmi Go may fill that niche properly.
