ASUS announced yesterday the new Zenfone 6 smartphone, a high-end device that comes with a rotating camera and a big battery. Chinese stores already started pre-sale for the device with shipping starting in the first half of June. Even though the device will be shipped from China, this is the official Global Version of the ASUS Zenfone 6, so it will come with Google Play Store installed and it will be usable outside of China without any problems.
Being a flagship device, it is to no one’s surprise that the Asus Zenfone 6 comes with the latest Snapdragon 855 CPU. The device has 6GB of RAM and the versions available for pre-order go up to 128GB of internal storage. The 6.4″ screen has a FullHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080) and no notch at all. Don’t think that the device has an older look. On the contrary, the ASUS Zenfone 6 is modern with a screen that covers almost the entire front of the device. The screen has an IPS LCD panel, not AMOLED, and this also means that the fingerprint reader is a mroe traditional one positioned on the back of the device.
To solve the problem of the front-facing camera, Asus opted to bring the back cameras to the front using a rotating mechanism that pivots the sensors and lenses on top of the device when you want to take a selfie. This has the added advantage that you will use the premium 48MP sensor that is usually reserved for the main camera to video chat or to take a selfie. As a result, your photos will look awesome without needing to hold the device in an awkward position. Asus Zenfone 6 also comes with a secondary camera that has a 13MP sensor and a 125 degrees ultrawide lens.
Sadly, you won’t get any special zoom features for the cameras, but the Asus Zenfone 6 does have something special for the battery. Usually, smartphones have under 4000mAh batteries, but Asus opted for a bigger, 5000mAh one that, combined with the ultra-high-end CPU should offer long usage times on a single charge. Furthermore, the device comes with support for Quick Charge 4.
