Do you remember the giveaway that Chuwi was hosting where you had to guess the price for the chance to win a new Chuwi LapBook Plus with 4K screen? I am sure that none of you managed to get it right because the final selling price that the company managed to reach exceeded even our expectations. The new Chuwi LapBook Plus laptop with 4K screen is now available for just $439, way under the $600 that we thought it will cost. Don’t get us wrong, the device is still a low-power model, but if the display is as good as they claim, the Chuwi LapBook Plus may be a good laptop for basic email, document editing, social network, web browsing, and movies.
It comes with an Intel Atom x7-E3950 Processor that has 4 cores clocked at 1.6GHz. The CPU is rather old, being released in 2016, but it is a decent one as long as you don’t plan on gaming. The Chuwi LapBook Plus has 8GB of DDR3 RAM and 256GB SSD storage. There is also an additional M.2 slot where you can place another SSD if you so desire. It’s biggest selling point is the 15.6″ screen with 4K resolution and 100% sRGB color gamut. We did not have the change to test the device yet, but they claim that the screen is on par with other display from devices that are much more expensive.
The Chuwi LapBook Plus laptop comes with a full backlit keyboard that also has a numpad and a big trackpad that tries to mimic the one present on the MacBook Pro. Actually, the entire laptop looks like a MacBook clone, all down to the metal case and slim design (approximately 6mm in thickness). The $439 price is quite interesting considering the display. Still, the CPU may not be powerful enough to handle such a resolution properly /9this being my only concern with the configuration).
