The release of the Nubia Red Magic 3 has put a toll on Xiaomi’s gaming smartphone and it seems that sales are suffering. To revive sales on it’s latest gaming flagship, the Black Shark 2, Xiaomi is starting a sale tomorrow and the device will be available for €50/￡50 less, at just €499 for the 8GB+128GB model. This way it becomes much more competitive in comparison to Nubia’s offering. Even though it does not have the 90Hz refresh rate screen, nor the active fan cooling system, the Black Shark 2 is still a really solid gaming smartphone.
The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 has the latest Snapdragon 855 CPU and 8GB of RAM. The 128GB internal storage is not expandable, but it should be sufficient for most people. The 6.39″ AMOLED screen has no notches and a more traditional design with bezels on top and bottom. Don’t feel bad though, since in those bezels Xiaomi placed dual-speakers for improved sound. Still, the 81.7% screen-to-body ratio may seem outdated for some. The rest of the design is everything but dull. The aluminum + glass back with sharp edges and gree over black color gradients make it stand out from the crowd. Also, it has RGB light strips on each side and the black shark logo on the back also has RGB lights with effects that can be controlled from the phone’s settings.
The phone has a decent camera setup as well. On the back there is a 48MP (wide-angle) + 12MP (telephoto) camera setup that takes decent photos. On the front, you will get a 20MP selfie camera. Connectivity-wise, the phone has everything, except NFC. It has a dual 4G SIM slot, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0 and a Wi-Fi antenna configuration that promises better signal and less input lag. I won’t go into more details right now since you can read everything in our hands-on review. I will only say that at this price range, the phone definitely is worth checking out. The promotion is available for the EU Shop and the UK Shops starting tomorrow, 10th of July, by clicking the links below.
