This week Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 855+ CPU, an upgraded version of their flagship chipset, that has slightly higher clock speeds for both the CPU and the GPU. Obviously, smartphones running this new chip will perform slightly better than current devices, especially when it comes to benchmarks. And Nubia really does not want to lose their first place in AnTuTu. That is why they will be making a version of the Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone that will come with the new SD855+ chip.
The announcement was posted on their Weibo account, however, no release date was offered. We expect that the transition to the new chipset won’t take too long and we can expect the new device to hit shelves in the next few months. Also, no word if pricing will have to suffer or if you will be able to buy both versions, with the original getting a price cut. Since the market for gaming smartphones is very dynamic, we may see other manufacturers to follow this trend and upgrade their current offerings to the Snapdragon 855+ chipset as well. In the meantime, you can still order the current version with the still very potent 855 at their website.
