The new Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones are close to release and today, thanks to a post by Mediatek on their Weibo social account we have a new and important detail related to the specification of the phone. The Redmi Note 8 and Pro will have a Mediatek chipset, more exactly, the new game-centrist Helio G90T, announced just a few weeks ago.
This is a big step for Mediatek since such high-profile devices were not part of their portfolio for quite a while. The previous Redmi Note 7 had Snapdragon chipsets and all high-end devices (with a few exceptions that use Exynos or Kirin) use Snapdragon chipsets as well. The Redmi Note 8 will also come with a Mediateck chipset. Most probably we will see the normal G90 in the RN8 and the G90T in the Pro variant. More details will be offered during the release in just a few days, on the 29th.
