Nubia Z20 dual-screen phones arrives for $549

Nubia has been teasing the Z20, their take on a smartphone that has two displays for some time. The phone is finally available for pre-order via their online store and the price is really good, especially considering that this is a high-end smartphone with the latest Snapdragon chipset. It is not the first phone which has a screen on the back, but we love that the phone has no notch or punch-hole and maintains a bezeless display.

The phone is really powerful, on-par with all flagships launched in the past few months. The Nubia Z20 comes with the Snapdragon 855+ chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Nothing out of the ordinary here for a 2019 flagship, but it does run the fastest available chipset from Qualcomm. Where the Nubia Z20 stands out of the crowd is on their approach for making the screen-to-body ratio as big as possible. There isn’t a notch nor a hole for the front-facing camera. Also, there are no moving parts for a pop-up selfie camera. instead, Nubia completely removed it.

Still, you would need a front camera for selfies and video calls. That is why Nubia included a secondary, fully-functional display on the back of the phone. This way you can use the full power of the back cameras even for selfies. Both displays are really good as well. The main one has an AMOLED panel with 10802340 resolution and 6.45″ diagonal. On the back, you will find a smaller one with a 5.1″ diagonal and 7201520 resolution. It also has an AMOLED panel and both displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The screen can also be operated individually and can display two apps, one on each side. The back display can also be configured as a customizable always-on display, so you won’t miss any notifications.

The Nubia Z20 has a triple-camera setup on the back with a 48MP main camera with a Sony IMX586 sensor, a 16MP ultrawide angle camera and an 8MP telephoto lens camera that is capable of 3x optical zoom. The lenses are protected by synthetic Sapphire Glass for extra toughness and scratch resistance. And like I mentioned, you can take full advantage of the cameras for selfies and video calls. Other specs include a 4000mAh battery with support for quick-charge up to 27W, a fingerprint-reader and standard connectivity options: dual-4G SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS. Sadly, there is no mention of NFC, so probably the phone does not have it.

Those that are interested can pre-order the phone right now for €549/$549/£499, depending on the region where you leave. The Nubia Z20 is available in the following countries via Nubia Mall Online Ship:
* North America: USA, Canada
* Europe: EU, UK
* Rest of the World: Australia, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Macao
