Vivo is preparing to seriously expand outside of China and today they started teasing a new smartphone for the Indian market. From the posts and teasers made on social media accounts, we know what device they will be releasing: the Vivo IQOO Pro 5G. This is a powerful smartphone with game-centric features and 5G connectivity.
For now we don’t have an actual release date, but things are moving fast and there is already a placeholder website for the IQOO India, so the phone should be just around the corner. From a business point of view, it makes perfect sense for Vivo to focus on India next. The country has a big population that is just now starting to truly have the budget for smartphones. Redmi and Realme proved that people there want new and potent smartphones at affordable prices. Now, the IQOO Pro 5G will be more expensive than most phones offered by the other two companies but will have a few advantages.
For starters, it is much more powerful, having the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. Being a gaming smartphone, it also has a great cooling system that will keep the phone cool under intense gaming. The 6.41″ AMOLED screen has a small waterdrop notch on the front and an under-display fingerprint reader. The biggest advantage though maybe the 5G connectivity, something that Realme and Redmi do not have in their portfolio for the Indian market, at least for now. Pricing is not yet available, but when the Vivo IQOO Pro 5G launched in China a few months ago, it was priced at just $599. Considering that the chipset is now a bit older and that the company will want to attract many customers from the start, the price should be lower, maybe even under $500.
