Last week Redmi launched the Redmi Note 9 and the Note 9 Pro in India. Today came the global release, but the company decided to use a different name for some reason: Redmi Note 9S. This is the exact same phone as the Redmi Note 9 Pro but adjusted mostly for the global market. There is no official price just yet, but we should have this information prior to the sale start on the 7th of April. We, however, know a seller that already has it available for pre-order at reasonable prices!
Before that though, let us recap the specifications. The Redmi Note 9S is powered by the Snapdragon 720G chipset and has 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The 6.67″ FullHD+ display has a punch-hole in the middle for the 16MP selfie camera. On the side you will find a fingerprint-reader and you all the ports needed: USB Type-C for charging, 3.5mm audio jack and an infra-red emitter. The only thing missing is NFC.
Redmi bets big on photography for the Redmi Note 9S, the phone having a quad-camera setup on the back. The main camera has 48MP sensor and you also get an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth-sensing one. Other cool features include splash protection with a special nano-coating, 18W fast charging and a 5020mAh battery that promises up to 2 days of intensive usage. I won’t go into more details since you can read everything in our Redmi Note 9 Pro coverage. You can also read our comparison with other similarly-priced smartphones!
Now, if you want to order it now we found an online seller that has it available for pre-order. The 4GB+64GB version is available there for $250 and the 8GB+128GB version will set you back 30$ more. I can’t say for now how these prices compare to the official ones, but you may be paying a premium for having the phone a bit earlier.
