This ultra-cheap smartphone has decent specs for under $60

We covered many cheap and mid-range smartphones in the past and we saw many improvements over the past two years, with sub $200 devices having really good components and performance considering the price. A mid-range CPU has enough power to run almost all apps and games without a problem and camera tech also improved dramatically, with good photos being taken even at this price range. The progress of technology also means that cheap and ultra-cheap devices started to look quite attractive for many.

Today Doogee launched such a smartphone and it is a really potent piece of hardware if you take the price into consideration. The MediaTek MT6737 CPU that powers the phone is quite old, but the quad-core Cortex-A53 configuration should run most apps without major problems. The 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage are also good enough for basic tasks and users that don’t do much with their smartphones. For social media, email and web browsing, the Doogee X95 is a good smartphone and the included 4350mAh battery should last up to two days on a single charge. There is no quick-charge option, but at this price, you can’t really complain.

The 6.52″ HD+ screen has a waterdrop notch on top that holds the 5MP selfie camera and decently-slim bezels. On the back you will find a triple-camera setup with a 13MP main sensor, a 2MP portrait camera and a 2MP 2x zoom camera. Don’t expect the phone to take great photos, but the Doogee X95 should handle daylight photos decently. To achieve such a low price, Doogee did have to make a few compromises. There is no fingerprint reader and you get the old micro-USB connector. On the bright side, the phone runs Android 10 out of the box, but don’t expect any major updates.

For just $59.99, the Doogee X95 packs quite decent hardware. Where it does looses on performance, it makes up in price and the phone makes a really good backup device or a gift for an elder person that does not need more than basic functionality and the occasional internet browsing. The phone can be bought from their official web store.
