After a rather successful launch of MIUI 12 in China, Xiaomi is preparing to reveal the global version of its next OS version. The new MIUI 12 will be officially revealed outside of China. Full details will come on the 19th, however, we already know most of the details thanks to the Chinese version. It is also safe to say that the initial wave of devices to receive the update will be the same as for the Chinese ROM.
MIUI 12 improves on the design language started by MIUI 11 and offers a more elegant and cleaner UI as well as better animations. Actually, animation are more widely spread and present through the interface. These can be seen on simple actions such as minimizing an app or viewing battery usage, to more complex ones such as new live wallpapers. The Super Earth and Super Mars can already be downloaded thanks to leaks and extractions form the Chinese ROMs, as well as a few system appsa few system apps, all of which work on MIUI 11.
Another cool feature that is coming to MIUI 12 is better privacy protection. The “Flare” system records all actions and privilege escalations taken by an application and displays them in an easy-to-follow UI. Furthermore, you will see colorful icons in the notifications drawer whenever an app is using the microphone, camera or location. The control over apps has also been improved, a trend that was started in Android 10, with better and more granular over what and when apps are allowed to use certain features.
The privacy features are certainly important, especially considering the recent scandal with Xiaomi‘s Browsers. You can wait for the update or if you have the needed skills, you can download the MIUI 12 Xiaomi.EU ROMs that are already available for a wide range of devices.
