Along with the new Realme X3 SuperZoom smartphone that we covered already, Realme launched two new products yesterday for the European market. The Realme Watch and the Realme Buds Air Neo. The first we will cover in this article since it is quite interesting and even though it is not as smart as a real smartwatch, it is better and has more functions than a traditional fitness tracker. It also looks quite elegant and well polished.
First, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Yes, the new Realme Watch looks like the Apple Watch but replaces the rotating crown with a more traditional button. It also has larger bezels, especially at the bottom of the display. You still get a 1.4″ LCD touch screen with 320×320 resolution and 12 built-in watch faces. Sadly, you can’t install any new ones, but the predefines watch faces look good and should be enough for most.
Moving over to functionality and features, the Realme Watch has a heart rate sensor as well as a blood oxygen level monitor. Data is synced and collected using the Realme Link application that is available on both Android and iOS. When it comes to activity tracking, the Realme Watch can track 14 Sports Modes, however, auto-detection is not a feature available. You will have to manually select the activity you are undergoing. Also, even though the device has IP68 water resistance rating, it does not have a swimming tracker.
As I said, this device is not truly a smartwatch but does come with more features than a traditional fitness tracker. You can read notifications, reject calls and track you activity just like on most fitness trackers. The device, however, supports even more. You also get weather notifications, sleep monitoring, drink reminders, and music playback control directly from the watch. Furthermore, in a future update, Realme will ad a new smart control center where you will be able to control different other products like the Realme Buds, TV or even air purifiers and smart lamps from other manufacturers.
All-in-all, the Realme Watch is an interesting device. You get quite a lot of features for 54.99€ and it can be a good option for anyone looking for a cheaper smartwatch.
